Watching the long supercell that crossed Memphis and Nashville on 2/5, I was switching between radar sites and noted that views from KOHX and KPHX were showing TVS sigs, but when I switched to KHTX they never showed up. Are these rotational icons site specific? I thought they were overlayed like warnings. The icons you see are a product of the Mesocyclone Detection Algorithm (MDA) which is computed using the velocity data from the specific radar site. Because the velocity data from each radar site are different (distance, angle, other variables), the MDA output is not always the same.As far as I know they are site specific from the site reporting them.Excellent--thanks for clearing that up.#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
