  • i need to know what architecture from Greece influenced today's buildings, and which buildings today did they influence?

  • The Greeks pioneered what's come to be called the Classical and Neoclassical styles of architecture. They are known for their columns, which can be Doric, Ionic, or Corinthian depending on their style, as well as the triangle shape which can be incorporated into doorways or the tops of windows. The architecture is very clean, very precise, and very symmetrical.

  • The ancient Greeks understood architecture as Sculpture, and their building show it. Read up about the Parthenon in Athens.

Post and lintel construction, columns, and a pediment upholding the roof are all Greek features.

Many of our national buildings in Washington are in the Neo-Classical style, which is based on Greek and Roman influences. Anything with arches or domes is Roman though, so don't FOCUS on those (for this project)

  • Anything with colums, tons of those buildings in DC. Capitol, etc..
