Suggestion for Ext.layout.BorderLayout.Region
January 8th, 2009
This would leave the Panel header with its title and tools visible.
This would be very desirable!
I'm looking at the code now, but it's a bit involved. Perhaps Jack, could see a simple way of doing this.
The replacement of a styled and informative title bar with a blank, blue element which offers no information as to what it is is not that useful. It seems counter to the smooth, informative UI principles of Ext.
If the title bar could be used as the colllapsedEl, it would be more useful.
Certainly one use case has been requested by efege, where he wants a south Panel to be results from a documentation search. He would like the toolbar with a TextField, and "Search" button to be always visible.
I posted some code for having a header:false Panel with a top toolbar containing a toggle button that "faked" the collapse/expand. That is, it set the Panel's body height to 0px, and restored it to a saved value, so that the Toolbar remained visible.
What would be really nice is to be able to put a Toolbar in the Panel header, and have that always visible. So that collapse just collapsed the body, and anytime, you could use a button from the south Panel's header Toolbar even when it is collapsed.
Certainly, I plan to extend setTitle to put the title into the collapsedEl so that at least the user can see what that blue element is.
I'm looking at adding overrides to Ext.layout.BorderLayout.Region to try to implement simple body collapse for "north" and "south" positions.

A little something about you, the author. Nothing lengthy, just an overview.
