Can you tell me all the types of the snellen chart?

  • i really need all the types of the snellen chart like some r traditional snellen chart and some are E chart .But i want all the types along with their letters.If u know any sites or if u know it then plz write it down for me

  • There are hundreds of different combinations. The one I have in my office has every letter on it except Q...and it is a real Snellen chart.

    There are so many variations, it is impossible to make a list.

    I could probably order 100 charts from 100 suppliers, and they will all be different.


  • The Snellen chart is the standard chart for vision in most eye offices. As the optician said there are different letter combo possible, but really there is only 1 Snellen chart.

    There are digital/TV systems that are used which have the ability to change letters with 1 button touch.

    You mentioned the E chart, or better known as the "rolling E" chart since they are faced different directions and you need to point out which direction its facing.

    There is an Allen chart which has simple pictograms (pictures) for measuring acuity in kids/toddlers.

    Another eye chart with letters if called the ETDRS chart which has certain letters for patients to read similar to the Snellen, but typically used to measure vision in medical research studies.

    An internet search for the above would give you better detail.
