January 8th, 2009
  • i want a sugar cookie glaze recipe that hardens like the storebought ones. i need one that doesnt have corn syrup. thanks so much!!!
oh and could i be to the frosting of 24 cookies?
    thanks!

  • u should use like confectionate sugar and like mix it with warm water it makes the surgar thick

  • 2 cups confectioners' sugar
    1/4 cup shortening
2 tablespoons and 1-1/2 teaspoons milk
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

    - I really like this one...its also calculated for 24 cookies

  • This is the recipe I use - the corn syrup is replaced by shortening. This recipe will frost 48 cookies, so you'll want to halve it.

    4 cups confectioners' sugar
    1/2 cup shortening
    5 tablespoons milk
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    food coloring

In a large bowl, cream together the confectioners' sugar and shortening until smooth. Gradually mix in the milk and vanilla with an electric mixer until smooth and stiff, about 5 minutes. Color with food coloring if desired.

  • I use store bought cream cheese frosting. Heat in microwave a few seconds til you can stir with a knife and then frost. However, this frosting will not harden.

  • Just mix powdered sugar and milk or water (even oj) untill you get the consistency you want.

  • I have 2 recipes:

    1st:

    Vanilla Icing or Glaze
2 cups powdered sugar - sift before measuring
    1 1/2 tablespoons butter, softened
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    3 to 4 tablespoons milk

Combine all icing ingredients in small mixing bowl. Stir until smooth and well blended. Adjust for spreading consistency if necessary, adding more milk or more powdered sugar. Spread icing or drizzle on warm cookies or pound cake.

    2nd:

    Ingredients
    2 cups confectioners' sugar
    2-2 1 tablespoons warm water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract or orange juice (or lemon or lime juice)
    Food coloring if desired

    Cooking Instructions
    1. Combine sugar with water to achieve the desired consistency in a small bowl. Add vanilla extract or orange juice (or lemon or lime juice).

    2. To tint the glaze: Place small quantities in several small bowls. Add a little food coloring to each bowl and mix well. (Paste food colors give the most vivid results.) Allow glazed cookies to dry completely before packaging or storing.
