Will an iPod nano 1st/2nd Gen case fit my new nano 4th Gen?

  • I just got the new nano. There are not many cases out for it yet so I am deciding to buy an armband which was designed for the 1st/2nd Gen nano's. The 4th and 1st/2nd have the same shape, but I want to make sure because I will be running with the armbad and don't want it to be loose or anything. Thanks in advance.


  • 2nd Gen's dimensions : (W x D x H) 1.6 in x 0.3 in x 3.5 in

    4th Gen's dimensions : (W x D x H ) 1.5 in x 0.24 in x 3.6 in

    So... the 4th gen is shorter, it's thinner, but... it's also thicker. So it might go into the case slightly sideways/diangonal. Also the button area might not line up depending on the armband.
