| Lucent Technologies and AMC Communications, a digital local exchange carrier based in New Orleans, La., today announced a $55 million agreement under which AMC will purchase Lucents leading-edge data networking equipment to deliver the highest quality integrated Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) services to its business customers.
Lucent will supply AMC with its revolutionary Internet Protocol (IP)-based PathStar Access Server and the recently launched DSL access concentrator, Stinger. AMC will deploy the Lucent solution to deliver feature-rich voice services, as well as high-speed data and Internet access over DSL. AMC has filed to offer services out of 200 locations in five states and has already engineered an additional 600 locations with Lucent equipment for the future phases of network deployment.
