Its called a custom because it had two pickups, like the active electronic gibson victory artist, but no active electronics.
I LOVE IT...I bought it new 18 years ago and still play it!
Darn! I was just getting ready to bet that MFC had the only Kahler tremolo equipped bass on the board!
I would still like to get one of those and put it on my old Peavey, if I ever spot one when I've got the money.
Actually, to tell you the truth, i had the kahler installed extra. I called around at some stores and i don't know if you've ever heard of Zapf's Music, but they had one in stock and to top that off, i got it for $50. Not bad at all.
It is. I thought about what would be my perfect bass, then bought all the parts and put it together.
With the MFD and the PBR-1 pre it is a very hot bass. I have to keep the volume below 5 to keep it clean.

I also have this Jackson JPB-9. This IS the one from the Jackson custom shop archives. I have no idea if this is the only one or not, but I've never seen or heard of another one. Their are a few JPB-7 and 8's out there though. I also have a JPB-7 but I know of at least 2 or 3 others.

It has the body of an eko viola bass, the headstock of an ampeg scroll bass, and totally bizaire pickups, I will try to post a picture here soon. It gets a fair amount of work in "acoustic" coffehouse gigs. Very uprigty and mccartney sounding.
but I guess nobody has one of these

Gard has two Guitar Factory sixers, one fretted, one fretless.
Quoting myself from another thread:
"Fretless 5-string made by a local luthier. Very good instrument for the price. Much better than many american cheapos. Shame on the brand name: HONDA (prize to originality). I think every guitar and bass player in my town has suggested this guy to put his last name on his instruments ("Navarro"), but he's convinced that foreign names sell more instruments. Maybe he's right, but Honda?"

My pride and joy, a 2001 Fodera custom Edward model 6-string. Apparently an eccentric NYC bassist commisioned Fodera to make him identical 5 and 6 string Edward model basses in all black (to match his all-black wardrobe). He sold the 6 shortly after taking delivery.
http://homepage.mac.com/elmaestro/.Pictures/Equipment/edward1.jpg
Joey told me this is not only one of the few Edward models in existence but also one of the only solid-color basses they've ever constructed. Many of their all-white basses are actually solid tops of holly. The Edward model was originally conceived by Ecuadorian bassist Edward Mozina in 1999. This bass features a 2-inch thick Honduras Mahogany body, 3-piece maple neck and old-growth ebony for the fingerboard and headstock facing, custom Bartolini dual-coil pickups, Pope 3-band 18v pre with dual/single-coil switch.

Nice instrument, Keith. That horn is so long, it looks like it might balance almost vertically! Padauk good.
Brad.. that bass is TINY! How do you play it?
You definitely have to sneak up on it.
From a rather foggy memory due to gutting most of it and adding an active pre of my own build (when I was young and . . . less bright).
There's a rotory tone knob that went from a bypass to various levels of useless mud (Varitone), Volume/Volume, Tone/Tone, master volume, pup parallel/series switches, pup phase switches, pup selector. It was all rather bothersome so as I said bypassed the nasties and it sounds great!
Just trying to get up the nerve to use it in Church one day!

My two Curbows. One is an Int'l Petite with a High C, and the other is a neck through with Brazilian Rosewood neck/fretboard and a Mahogany body.
Oh, and I have a Kahler Tremolo in my closet on a dead Yamaha bass. I might be persuaded to sell it to the right person.

SPIDEEEERS!
I have a fernandes custom that I found used, it's a freak, looks like a BC rich mockingbird, but with totally different electronics and inlays and some other silly stuff. It is similar to the mockingbird, but different.
That's my old bass, barely use it.
My main bass is a one of a kind fodera monarch 4 string neck through with block inlays and bartolini single coil pickups on the original fodera circuit(only 4 string monarch ever made with this config). All of that is unique enough, but here's the kicker. This 4-string is a 36" scale. :D

You are right, the bass balances very well indeed, it is also very very light. There is alot of tone in this bass and I believe the padauk and mahogany body wood along with the graphite neck and the electronic package makes for a nice combination.
It does not sound very musicman like to my ears which is a suprise but I have that base covered with my SR5 so all is good. ;)

Do you have a straight on front shot. Looks great. Looks like there might be some Jerzy Drozd influence?
... but I did not see a Roscoe mentioned anywhere!
Your first remark explains your second - on TalkBass, Roscoes are not particularly unusual! :D
Take a look here:

Did you follow the links? look at the Vintage Guitar article- the bass was not one of a kind, although the 8-stringer might have been.
If you follow the fourth link you'll get to a pic of the 4-stringer:

Why did I have this done? It was during the 70's......

two limited edition (100) SBVs (J1 and J2)
Damn, that is one sexy Yamaha, I've never seen one of those in Australia!
Honestly, I think that I'm the only Tber who actually owns and has a LeCompte in his posession, but I could be wrong. I believe that I have two basses that nobody else has. My LeCompte of course and my own home built bass that I create from various parts off of the internet that's very unique also.

Mine still has the original black tuners and Jackson bridge. How much do the new tuners and Badass help out? I need to find a few pics of mine... The finish is insane!
I cant really answer that because it was setup that way when I bought it (except for the Hipshot D-Tuner). I haven't found anything yet that has moved me enough to retire it yet though. Great stable neck and it plays incredible.
I'm not generally a betting man but on this, maybe a buck. No--- poker isn't betting it's a study of the odds and human nature.....

I'm sure no one has one like this. MIM Jazz neck, P body, G&L MFD pickup, Raven Labs PBR-1 preamp, Hipshot ultralight tuners, Fender Americam Deluxe bridge. Plays great, sounds great.
I think that nobody on this board owns any of these three basses on the right.

Ahhh... But you don't actually -have- it...
;) :p
Makes ya think, duddinit?
Im lovin the tiger striped explorer!
Fred- what program are you using for yer virtual bass?
No one is two words. Noone is the lead singer of Herman's Hermits.
Washburn B-20-8 8 string...
Take your pick!
The 3-yr-old in the photo won't even let me take the bass out of its case without him touching it, so he's in it too.

Warmoth body + neck, Schaller bridge, 4 Gotoh tuners + 1 Gibson, Bartolini pickups with TBT circuit.
What's so unique about it?
It used to belong to Scott Henderson from Tribal Tech.

Man, if you ever, ever, EVER up and sell that, you talk to me first, right?

I didn't think I had anything all that rare, but I always forget this one. It's an '86 Thunderbird II. According to Gibson, it was probably a special order (there wasn't a custom shop then). They did a small run of these in 84-85. I've seen pictures of two others, both from websites in Japan (one black, one burst). This is the only one I've seen in person. Nice bass, too. :)
Wow. I thought I was the only one. You need to help me out and jump in here when I am talking about how great they are. Some people don't seem to buy it.
Do you have pictures? I have seen the candy apple red ones. They look slick with the cream pickup covers with exposed pole pieces.
I guess I should post this picture also.

Darn! I was just getting ready to bet that MFC had the only Kahler tremolo equipped bass on the board!
I would still like to get one of those and put it on my old Peavey, if I ever spot one when I've got the money.
if you ever see one, the main reason i bought the bass is because i was looking for one and couldn't find one anywhere. there was that porkproduct company in Canada but i hear they went under.
there is this site http://www.mydoublewhammy.com/
not a kahler but it is a whammy.
good idea putting it on a bass you don't use alot.
i don't know about MFC's bass but mine is good for about 6 yanks and its out. get when you are getting together with a bunch of "incredible" guitar players and you want to get their motors running buy hitting a couple of harmonics and bending them into the squeal zone. they never give me good looks after that kind of stunt. guess they don't like bass players being able to do that type of stuff. :D
MIJ model.
Fhod has some TBC's but they're the new ones.
I'm using a 3D CAD program called Pro/Engineer (www.ptc.com) for all the modeling.
The meshes are exported to 3D Studio MAX for rendering and animation.

Walnut body, 3 EMG's, Schaller tuners, and on-off toggles for each pickup with a volume control for each and a phase switch with one master tone control... Pretty freakish, eh? :D
